Yes, I finally made it to a beach town.... I spent five nights here in Mazatlan and guess what?! I didn't make it to the beach once, not even to see what it looked like!!! Not sure why but every time i thought I go, I could only think about the sand ending up everywhere and I just couldn't be bothered. I certainly hope this is just a phase and that it will pass because I normally love the beach or is it that I have spent to much time on the beach and now I will dislike it forever??? hahahaha don't think so.... Here is some insight on how one of my day's were not spent on the beach!!!
Kicked off the morning with a long long breakfast containing a couple of cups of coffee and then some banana pancakes to finish it off. All included at the hostel. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and one thing I do enjoy is taking my time eating eat. Ok, maybe not taking my time on the eating part but certainly on the drinking coffee part when its good coffee around.
Managed to have a sporadic gym session, these are getting further and further apart. I can be completely honest and say that I feel very naive thinking that I would be able to keep up with my fitness regime that I had back home. I kind of wish I could put more blame on my knee but that seems to be holding together now so guess I'm just plain lazy.... Felt great being back in a gym though so hopefully I will keep up or at least make a bigger effort of keeping up!
This restaurant looks more like a fast food chain then a healthy restaurant and when you enter, it still looks like a fast food chain. But its absolutely not a fast food place, we did lunch here one day and it took about half an hour to get our salads we ordered. The salad was great though... This day I didn't go for salad though, just my daily super tasty smoothie/juice. Todays choice was a strawberry, pineapple, orange and coconut juice, of course freshly made. Perfect after a good work out...
At this stage the pool at the hostel was calling me since it was about 200 degrees Celsius, ok that might be a lie, it was closer to 35 degrees celsius but felt like 200 degrees because its so humid here.
Mega hypermarket is another great way to cool down plus you have the opportunity to feel a bit normal while you browse down the air conditioned aisles. It's just pure heaven since I'm not visiting many big supermarkets for the time being. So when my fingers and toes got to pruny in the pool I went here and I easily spent an hour walking up and down the aisles this day, sounds like a very sad thing to do but if you ever travelled for a longer period of time, then you know what i'm talking about!!!
It was now about 2 degrees cooler then earlier when I was in the pool so thought I get back in. With book in hand I opted for the "I'm a stranded whale on the steps to the pool with half legs in the water" kind of position. I do admit that I look far from as sophisticated as Beth that i travelled with for a couple of days did a few days earlier while she enjoyed her book in the shadow. I felt I needed to get the tan going again so needed sun but still needed to cool down, that's my excuse... And yes I know it's a great selfie, especially half the ear!!!
Watching the sun set from the roof of the hostel has been fantastic so unless it's been to cloudy then I have gotten myself up on the roof to watch the sun go down and this day I was lucky so watched another sun set. Far from as good as the SJDS sun sets though!
To end the day, me and the two main guys running the hostel went to the cinema. I hardly ever go to the cinema but every time I do, I always tell myself that I need to go more often. I can report that it's not much different visiting a Mexican cinema compared to a European one, except the prices that is. One ticket here is MNX 48/ USD 2.60/ EUR 2.30 and the cinema in Mazatlan has 2 for 1 on Wednesdays!!!

I din't have a pedicure this day as the picture would suggest. I also don't recommend the place I had this pedicure here in Mazatlan. Athina SPA was not what I expected, had better pedicures for much less, so would not go back!
I decided that it was time for a career break. So handed in my notice to the company who I worked with for the last ten years. It's time to pack my bag and depart from Amsterdam which been my home town for the last 4.5 years. -"Amsterdam, it's not you it's me and I need a break!". Read more
