The Wandering Paisa hostel were I stayed first three nights was good. Comfy bed in a four bed dorm, clean bath rooms, few hammocks and friendly staff, what more would you expect for 7 Euros/night:) Not only was I lucky with choice of hostel but I also found a great breakfast place with super good coffee and freshly made smoothies. Did change my americano for a iced americano on the second and third morning though. Sorry to say but best thing with this cafe is that they speak English!
Realized already first day how easy it is to find the way around this city. All the streets are named by numbers, kind of like a grid. So as long as you can count you shouldn't get lost. I did have to pull out Google maps on first day though:)
I have now moved in to my AirBnb room and loving the place. House situated on a quiet street close to metro, restaurants, supermarket and everything else I need. Great house where I have own room but share house with the owners and whoever else that rents the other two rooms. Couldn't be better. Except for that when I'm writing this I have locked myself out:(
Thought I do lunch on the tiny terrace just outside the house. First I put my key in the door to my room, just in case it would close. Little did I think about that the wind would take the front door and shut it in front of my nose. So know I've been sitting between the front door area and the security bars for about three hours!!! I hope someone shows up soon that can let me in. Big question though; do I pretend that I just walk in with them or do I tell them I've been locked out for few hours!!!!
What else have Ive been up to except for getting a little bit lost, walking around my new hood and getting locked out? Not much is the answer to that question!! Tried to go for a run but knee is wonky and painful so guess I have to rest, I had the local dish Bendeja Paisa (chorizo, crispy pork belly, rice, beans, avocado and some more stuff), and today I went to check out some sculptures at Plaza Botero. To lazy to explain further on what sculptures so if you want to know more; please feel free and use your best search engine.
PS: In the end it took four hours until someone got home. Four hours I was sitting there as a nice gazelle at the zoo... Anyhow in the end I just pretended that I was ready to walk inside so walked in with them and didn't mention a word of being locked out!!!
I decided that it was time for a career break. So handed in my notice to the company who I worked with for the last ten years. It's time to pack my bag and depart from Amsterdam which been my home town for the last 4.5 years. -"Amsterdam, it's not you it's me and I need a break!". Read more
