After a short hike up the forest we reached our first thing to do, the Tarzan swing. Here we had to jump off a platform and just swing back and forward. This was just the warm up but it felt much higher then it looked from the ground.
Then we made it to the first zip line and got the instructions on what to do and what not to do. Also got instructions on how to break and what to do if we got stuck before reaching the next tree, good things to know! It was tough to get in to position at first but then off i went. After the first zip line we continued to soar through the forest at about 20 meters above ground, with our guides ensuring we were strapped in correctly at each start.
After a few zip lines we made it to a 40 meter high platform and from here it was time to lower ourself to the ground. I started to get nervous about this while the guides were preparing for our descent. Just say that i didn't volunteer to go first:) But then it was time for me to head down, the guide hooked everything required together and then he said i was good to go. I wasn't so sure though! But i knew i had to do it so took a step off the platform and slowly i came closer to the ground. Hanging 40 meters above ground is quiet a feeling:)
In the end all of us made it down safely but then it was time to climb the inside of the hollow tree, then make it out from the hollow tree and over to a rope ladder to make it back to where we came from. The climb up felt much further then 40 meters, i can tell you that.
Back up in the tree again we continued to soar through the forest at various speed and hight. Now after being a bit more relaxed i could really take in the amazing views that some of the lines gave. The longest zip we did was 800 meters and it was brilliant, felt like it would never end. When the tour ended i believe we had done 15 zip lines in total and the time just flew by.
It was a bit nerv wrecking standing on the platforms waiting for the rest of the group. The platforms were between 15 and 40 meters up in the air. Today was very windy as well and surprise surprise the trees moves a lot in the wind. But this made things even more fun, at least we could laugh at each other as we sometimes felt like holding on to what ever there was to hold on to as our life depended on it. The tour lasted for 2.5 hours and this was just the perfect amount of time. I had so much fun and if you have the chance to do it then i highly recommend it.
I did the tour with the Original Canopy Tour in Monteverde, Costa Rica but there are several different companies doing similar things

I decided that it was time for a career break. So handed in my notice to the company who I worked with for the last ten years. It's time to pack my bag and depart from Amsterdam which been my home town for the last 4.5 years. -"Amsterdam, it's not you it's me and I need a break!". Read more
